The Folkston Police Department released the following incident reports from November 21 to December 9, 2021.

November 21, Officer Gary Rhoden responded to a traffic accident involving Cory Ray Bryant. A check of his information through GCIC revealed that his license was suspended through Georgia on September 15, 2021 for DUI-First. Mr. Bryant was placed under arrest, transported to the Sheriff’s Office where he was issued a citation for license driving while license suspended/revoked. He was turned over to the jailor on duty. This case is closed.

November 21, Officer Daniel Lightsey conducted a traffic stop on a 2014 Dodge Ram driven by Eric Dean Simmons of Jacksonville, FL after checking its speed at 83 mph in a 55 mph zone. A check of the driver’s information through GCIC revealed that his Florida driver’s license had been suspended on April 26, 2021 for failure to meet court obligations. Mr. Simmon’s was taken into custody and transported to the jail where he was issued citations for license driving while license suspended/revoked and speeding. He was turned over to the jailor on duty. This case is closed.

November 27, Officer Wyatt Garvin conducted a traffic stop on a 2020 Infinity SUV, driven by Kenneth Leon Howard of Miami, FL, due to it traveling at 89 mph in a 55 mph zone. Officer Garvin met the offender and ran his information through GCIC and learned that his license was suspended on February 18, 2021 for “Conviction expired tag six months or less and a non-judgment suspension on August 2, 2021. The offender was arrested, transported to the jail and turned over to the jailor on duty for the charges of speeding and license driving while license suspended/revoked. During the investigation a small amount of marijuana was located within the vehicle. The marijuana recovered has been seized/submitted into evidence.

November 29, Officer Daniel Lightsey conducted a traffic stop on a 2017 Honda Civic driven by Charles Dalton Sears of Waycross, GA due to its driver side headlight being out. A check of the vehicle’s information through GCIC revealed that it had no valid insurance coverage. The vehicle was removed by Seldomridge Towing. Mr. Sears was taken into custody and transported to the jail where he was issued citations for no insurance and driving unsafe/improperly equipped vehicle. He was turned over to the jailor on duty. This case is closed.

November 29, Officer Jason Rifenbark began an investigation in reference to a hit and run incident. He met with the complainant who advised that a vehicle struck the victim’s vehicle on November 29, 2021 at 10:15 p.m. at the Circle K on Martin Street and left the scene. He reviewed the store’s video footage of this incident and the investigation resulted in the offender, Brittany Kiara Everett of Folkston, being taken into custody and transported to the Sheriff’s Office. Ms. Everett was issued a citation for duty upon striking unattended vehicle and turned over to the jailor on duty. This case is closed.

December 2, Officer Michael Maddox was traveling north on GA 4 just south of Bowery Lane and observed a 2013 Dodge Durrango traveling south with the passenger side headlight not working. He conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. A check through GCIC revealed that the vehicle’s Georgia registration was suspended. The driver, William Leonard Edwards of Folkston, was placed under arrest and transported to the Charlton County jail where he was issued citations for driving with a suspended tag and driving unsafe/improperly equipped vehicle. He was turned over to the jailor on duty. The vehicle was towed by Tim’s Towing. This case is closed.

December 4, Officer Daniel Lightsey conducted a traffic stop on a 2012 Toyota Tacoma, driven by George Bradley Register of Hilliard, FL, due to it having no taillights. A check of the driver’s information through GCIC revealed that his Florida driver’s license had been suspended on March 11, 2021 for a non-judgment violation. The vehicle was secured on the side of the road. Mr. Register was taken into custody and transported to the jail where he was issued citations for license driving while license suspended/revoked and driving unsafe/improperly equipped vehicle. He was turned over to the jail. This case is closed.

December 4, Officer Wyatt Garvin was dispatched to the Circle K on Martin Street in reference to shoplifting. He met with the complainant, who provided him surveillance footage of the offenders, Deztane Lativia Tamari Daniels and Akeirah Jeneka Elder of Folkston, shoplifting. The offenders were identified and subsequently arrested. They were transported to the jail where they were both interviewed and issued citation for shoplifting less than $300.00. The value of the Goody’s brand medication taken by Ms. Daniels was $3.00 and the value of the lemonade drink that Ms. Elder took was $2.00. Both offenders were issued criminal trespass warnings at the request of the complainants for the Circle Ks at 704 Martin Street and 3719 Main Street locations. The total value of items taken is $5.00. This case is closed.

December 8, Officer Daniel Lightsey conducted a traffic stop on a 2014 Nissan Altima, driven by Tycell Laquan Moore, due to its driver’s side headlight being out. A check of the driver’s information through GCIC revealed that he was not licensed. The vehicle was secured and the driver was taken into custody. He was transported to the jail where he was issued citations for license driving while unlicensed or expired and driving unsafe/improperly equipped vehicle. He was turned over to the jailor on duty. This case is closed.

December 9, Officer Daniel Lightsey stopped the offender, Darron Micah Hubert of Folkston, after observing him ride a bicycle on the road with no light affixed to it. A check of the offender’s information through GCIC revealed that he had a warrant from Charlton County for a probation violation. A check of his person led to the discovery of a clear jar containing methamphetamine in his pants pocket. Mr. Hubert was taken into custody and transported to the jail where he was interviewed and turned over to the jai. Warrants were secured for possession of methamphetamine, bicycle equipment requirement and wanted wanted person. This case is closed.
