The Folkston Police Department recently released the following traffic incident reports.
On June 3, Officer Jason Rifenbark was dispatched to the intersection of Martin Street and First Street. Vehicle #1, a 2007 Ford Five-Hundred S, driven by Ruby L. Mitchell, was traveling east on Martin Street. Vehicle #2, a 2008 Toyota Tundra, driven by Robert A. Elliott, was traveling east on Martin Street ahead of Vehicle #1. Vehicle #2 stopped due to traffic. Vehicle #1 struck Vehicle #2 in the rear.
On June 5, Officer Michael Maddox was dispatched to the parking lot of the old Dollar General. Vehicle #1, a 2016 Kia Forte, driven by Arthur J. Treffiletti, was in the parking lot of the old Dollar General facing south stopped directly behind Vehicle #2. Vehicle #2 began backing and struck the Vehicle #1 in the passenger door. Vehicle #2 then left the scene.
June 8, Officer Jason Rifenbark was dispatched to Double D Auto. Vehicle #1, a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Daniel J. Addison, was attempting to pull into the tire changing bay at Double D’s Auto, traveling west. Vehicle #2, a 2015 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Wendy A. Davis, was stopped facing west on the property of Double D’s Auto, near the tire changing bay. Vehicle #1’s rear passenger side bumper corner struck Vehicle #2’s rear driver side wheel well.
June 17, Officer James Murray was dispatched to Martin Street and GA Hwy. 4. Vehicle #2, a 2018 Buick Cascada, driven by Anthony W. Cason, was stopped at the red light facing east on Martin Street. Vehicle #1, a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz, driven by Belinda S. Alderman, was traveling east on Martin Street. Vehicle #1 failed to stop and struck Vehicle #2 in the rear.
June 19, Chief Wesley Green, assisted by Officer James Murray and the Charlton County Sheriff’s office, was dispatched to Main Street and Dixie Lake Road. Vehicle #1, a 2002 Ford Explorer, driven by Cortez D. Bryant, was east bound on Main Street approaching the intersection of Main Street and Dixie Lake Road. Vehicle #1 left the roadway onto the eastbound shoulder. Vehicle #1 reentered the roadway and then the driver lost control. Vehicle #1 skidded sideways in a northeast direction for some distance before striking the sidewalk. Vehicle #1 came to rest on the north side of Main Street. Bryant, the driver, stated that a white in color Ford F150 pulled out in front of him from off of Dixie Lake Road. On June 20, Bryant advised Chief Green, by phone, that prior to the Ford F150 pulling out in front of him, his phone charger had fallen onto the floor underneath his gas pedal and he was attempting to retrieve it when he ran off the roadway.
June 24, Officer James Murray was dispatched to the Circle K/McDonald’s parking lot. Vehicle #1, a 2016 Kia Rio, driven by Arthur J. Treffiletti, was in a parking spot facing east in the Circle K parking lot. Vehicle #2, a 2014 Dodge Charger, driven by Carol J. Allday, was exiting the McDonald’s drive-thru. Vehicle 1# failed to see Vehicle #2 and began backing and struck Vehicle #2 in the passenger door.
June 30, Officer Michael Maddox was dispatched to Pine Point Apartments. Vehicle #1, a 2001 Toyota Highlander, driven by Danielle P. Leugers, was traveling south through the parking lot of the Pine Point Apartments. Vehicle #2, a 2017 Toyota Camry, was parked in a parking space facing east, unoccupied. Vehicle #1 attempted to park in a space next to Vehicle #2. Vehicle #1 struck Vehicle #2 in the left rear causing visible damage to both vehicles.
