On December 27, Deputy Dylan Kurtz observed four individuals in the parking lot of ESP Fabrications. Deputy Kurtz made contact with the subjects to verify that they were not having car issues. Upon exiting his patrol vehicle, Deputy Kurtz noticed the odor of marijuana. After ensuring that the subject’s vehicle was operational, Deputy Kurtz asked about the odor of marijuana. One of the subjects advised the marijuana was his and none of the other subjects had any. This subject was placed under arrest and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
On December 27, Deputy Kurtis Ford responded to Sleepy Hollow Lane in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, Deputy Ford met with Deputy Kevin Allday and Folkston PD Officer Daniel Lightsey, who were taking a subject into custody. After the subject was secured, Deputy Allday performed a search of the subject, subsequent to arrest. The search revealed a clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance. The subject advised that it was powder cocaine. Witness statements were collected, and the subject was charged with possession of a controlled substance, simple battery, and allowing a child to witness family violence.
On December 27, Deputy Dylan Kurtz responded to Pinewood Street in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated that someone had broken into her home and several items were missing. Evidence was collected and a list of the missing items was compiled. This case is under investigation.
On December 28, Deputy Colby Thompson responded to El Terrace in reference to a physical domestic dispute. The female subject stated that she had gotten angry at her boyfriend and had thrown an object at him and punched him in the face. The male subject confirmed the story. The male stated he did not want to press charges. Deputy Thompson advised the two to separate themselves for the night.
On December 29, Deputy Kyle Lloyd responded to Farley Burnsed Road in reference to a vehicle crashed in the woods. Upon arrival, Deputy Lloyd located the vehicle which was unoccupied with the keys inside. A search of the area was conducted to locate possible injured subjects, but no one was found. Seldomridge Towing was contacted, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
On December 31, Deputy Jonathan Chancy was dispatched to GA 4 near the 11 mile marker in reference to a truck in the ditch. Upon arrival, Deputy Chancy observed a bottle being thrown out of the passenger window and a male subject exited the vehicle, stumbling as he approached. Deputies Kurtis Ford and Doug Popp arrived at this time. The subject was placed under arrest for DUI and open container.
On January 1, Deputy Dylan Kurtz observed a vehicle on Milton Street with a potential window tint violation. Deputy Kurtz conducted a traffic stop. While checking the tint level, Deputy Kurtz ran the driver’s license through GCIC and learned that the license had been suspended. The window tint tested too dark, and the subject was arrested and charged with window tint violation and driving while license suspended.
On January 2, Deputy Colby Thompson responded to Camp Pinckney Drive in reference to a subject walking in the road. Deputy Thompson arrived on scene and advised the subject that he could not walk in the roadway. The subject stated he understood and left the roadway. Several hours later Deputy Thompson was dispatched to the same area and found the same subject in the roadway again. Deputy Thompson advised the subject to stay out of the roadway, but the subject stated he was not going to comply. Deputy Thompson arrested the subject and charged him with not yielding to traffic when not in a crosswalk.
On January 2, Deputy Scott Woodman was dispatched to Grace Chapel Road in reference to threats. Dispatch advised that a subject had called the complainant and stated he was going to their residence to fight with their grandson. En route to the scene, deputy Woodman observed a truck parked on the shoulder of the road a short distance from the residence. The driver of this vehicle told Deputy Woodman that the other male subject had stated that “he had a bullet for me,” and that he was going to confront him over the threat. The subject was advised to leave the area and not to escalate the situation. Deputy Woodman then proceeded to the home. The other subject was advised to stop instigating the situation and to block the other subject on media platforms if necessary. The complainant asked that the other subject be served with a criminal trespass warning. At this point, Deputy Woodman heard shouting from where the first subject was parked. Another neighbor had told the subject to leave the area and the two were shouting at each other. At this point Deputy Woodman arrested the subject in the vehicle and charged him with disorderly conduct and illegal parking, as he had already been advised to leave the area.
On January 3, Deputy Nathan Gwaltney responded to Russell Boulevard in reference to threats. The complainant stated a male subject had threatened to kill her and throw her in a pond to be eaten by alligators. She said he threatened her because she would not loan him $400. Lacking any corroborating witnesses, this case was referred to Magistrate Court for a possible protection order.
On January 5, Deputy Kurtis Ford responded to Ohio Street in reference to a theft. The subject stated that several power tools had been removed from the property. A list of missing items was compiled, and this case is under investigation.
On January 8, Deputy Kyle Lloyd responded to Russell Boulevard in reference to damage to a vehicle. The complainant stated that a neighbor’s dogs had chased a cat onto the property and when the cat jumped on her car, the dogs damaged the car by trying to follow the cat. The neighbor apologized and agreed to pay for any damages. A report was written, and the case was referred to Magistrate Court.
